    Residential home Gbely

Modern interior design in the spirit of light colors and natural materials.

An investment in efficiency

Nowadays, we live in a world where it’s becoming more and more popular to invest in energy-efficient housing. In Slovakia, we are still a little behind, but recent legislative changes apply pressure to reduce the energy requirements of newly constructed buildings. In practice, this mainly translates to the improvement of thermal insulation in buildings and streamline their operations. Modern techniques use cost-effective methods of heating, such as different types of heat pumps in combination with underfloor heating and heat recovery. We cannot forget alternative energy sources such as solar collectors and photovoltaic cells.

Investments in such technologies are often lost in the budget when building a house, however benefits will be felt immediately upon moving in, in the form of lower costs of operation.

The role of the architect is to incorporate these technologies and maximize their benefits while integrating them into the interior as not to disturb the overall impression.

Design

“We believe in Archstyl that the interior can not only be nicely furnished, but both fully functional and efficient to operate.”

On request of the owners, we designed the interior in the less distinctive earthy colors that give it versatility and timelessness. The modern interior is bright and designed to make it easy to read. A soft, neutral color scheme grants the owners the flexibility to supplement colorful accents in the form of various interior accessories. A significant element of the interior are beautiful, large wooden windows that during the day, let through large amounts of natural light. The challenge for us was the smooth integration of the vents forced ventilation – recuperated in the kitchen area and living room. We’ve designed an ingenious system using wood chips which cover the vents. They extend to the kitchen cabinets across the entire interior and end at the seat design. Prisms simultaneously perform tree tasks. To conceal functional aspects of the interior, provides LED lighting, and to aesthetically brighten the entire area.

Furniture

The whole interior is dominated by light wood floors made of white oak. The only exception is anthracite ceramic tiles in the entrance and bathroom that is much more tolerable to the daily workload and much easier to maintain. The predominance of light colors visually expands the space, appearing elegant, clean and positively impacts on its inhabitants.

Disposition

Interior design could only start with the completion of the building shell. The disposition proposed in the previous project had been satisfactory, so only minor changes were made in the bathrooms. Layout changes achieved a greater use of available space.

The home is divided into a ground floor day area, and a first floor night area.

Main entry

Immediately upon entering the home, guests are welcomes with large glass doors that promote a sense of openness. It can be opened to a range of 180° and visually illuminates and interconnects the entrance area with the hallway.

Kitchen and living room

The kitchen is equipped with built-in appliances and island with an induction cooktop and bar counter. The clean design look is managed by the smooth half-matte sprayed doors with recessed handles.

The dominant element of the living room is a fireplace, contrastingly set in the living room wall with dark oak design. The dining room stands out with a massive designer dining table with a stainless steel base.

Home office

The workplace is very simply furnished to include only the essentials, storage space, a large work desk and inspirational wallpaper of vibrant streets in New York.

Bedroom and bathroom

The ground floor houses a small bathroom with shower. The master, however, can be found upstairs. It provides a really wonderful space for two sinks, bathtub and shower.

Upstairs we can also find the master bedroom with designer bed, enormous closet and corner window overlooking the garden.

Lighting

At the main entrance, the stairway and hallway we’ve deployed energy-saving orientation lighting, which is activated automatically when it gets dark where soft light allows movement without the need for traditional lighting.

Besides general lighting, all the main room sin the house contain LED light strips placed in the ceiling. Inhabitants entering the bathroom attracted to illuminated mirrors and special lighting in the ceiling of the shower enclosure, which resembles the night sky.

Furniture

The interior of this residential home is truly original, which is confirmed by all the major furniture elements that have been custom designed and built to fit. Furniture was specifically designed to the needs of the owners and helped us take complete control over the look of the entire space. Furniture design and materials take over the color of the interior and channel the concept into one consistent whole.

    Serge high back executive chair

The Serge office chair used in the study is inspired by the classic design icon EA 119, created by the famous designer duo Charles and Ray Eamas as early as 1958. It is one of the most famous pieces of the entire collection of aluminum chairs that the Eames designed for the use of indoors and outdoors. This iconic chair with its little sister, EA 117, has quickly found its way into offices around the world and became a sysmbol of prosperity and success.

  • Jedálenská stolička Cataluna

    Dining chair Cataluna

The Cataluna chair does not belong to the small group of famous design chairs, though its light cream color blends in perfectly with other elements in the interior. It adds a touch of luxury to the room, but also provides sufficient comfort while dining. Chrome legs are tuned with the dinner table footstool and creates a consistent and compact indoor unit.

Project and realization

The client approached us during the construction of the building shell. Our task was to design a floor plan and interior that complimented the existing exterior façade of the home. In this case it was better to contact an architect before the start of the exterior renovation work in order to better align the whole course of construction and avoid unnecessary costs associated with moving interior walls.

We developed the interior design, realistic 3D visualization, drawings of changes in building construction and designed and processed the complete technical documentation for the production of furniture sets.

Design took about one month, while the preparation of technical drawings took another month. The interior was implemented in about three months.
