Reconstruction of family homes
People are often afraid to invest in the purchase of old homes, because they will have to be partially or complete reconstructed. Fears of reconstruction are often justified, but choosing the right property in combination with the professional services of an architect, creates a risk that can pay off.
In the days when they were original homes, housing was considered quite differently. The most common changes thus tend to focus on the layout. It is important at this phase of design and visualization, that a person can imagine what you can create from the original space.
Old walls may conceal unpleasant surprises, so it is necessary to have a well-elaborated draft of the budget. With that mentality reserves are made to cover “unexpected” costs. With us, there’s no need to worry about venturing into a demanding reconstruction project. Our experienced team of architects and interior through all the phases of reconstruction.

By request, the owners have proposed a modern, minimalist interior, which hides many interesting details. It was originally part of an older row of houses, which brought with it a few limitations. The ceiling is divided with weight-bearing dividers, with which we cannot move. Therefore, we used them to our advantage and added another non-bearing lateral divider, in which we placed lighting elements. At the same time, we’ve used them to hide electrical wiring and a pair of ventilation hoods. We livened the traditionally-made white walls using concrete plaster with plastic cubes protruding from the surface accompanied by a bed of flowers in pots in an integrated custom-made dining room cabinet. The original interior also contributes to the kitchen island inspired by the hull of a yacht.
For the interior to feel comfortable, we balanced the white satin-sprayed surface on the kitchen countertop accented with colors. Significant vibrant color is complemented by its complete opposite – fine turquoise. Colors such as these are located on the opposite side of the color spectrum and are called complementary. High contrast is created between the, perfectly fitting together to act aesthetically.
Floor and walls
Warmth is added by the darker floating wood floor with an oak design and exposed grooves. White smooth surfaces on the furniture is complimented by the gray plaster that appears more rugged and course impression. We’ve created a fine team of colors that are not only soft, but materialistically contrast.
The previous disposition did not meet the needs of the owners, so the living space required a new layout. We’ve designed it so that wheelchair access met the most used day areas, the bedroom and terrace. Emphasis was placed on a sufficiently large, visually linked day area where the family can spend their time together. The night area can be found on the first floor along with other day areas, a bathroom on the second, where future children’s rooms can be added.

Kitchen and dining room
The kitchen and dining room are beautifully illuminated with large windows from both sides. With their lighted environment we’ve added pale colors that reflect the entire space. This part of the interior looks very dynamic and positive.
The living room is in contrast with the kitchen and dining room, tuned to dark earthy tones to come across as more relaxing. Advantageously, we used the same floor to overlay the wall behind the seat. We thus visually enlarged the room, which acts someone airier.
While designing, we were somewhat limited with remnants of original interior, specifically a chimney or a cornerstone right in the middle of the room. A column we overlaid with mirror and thereby softened the visual clutter. The chimney was redesigned into a liquid fuel type fireplace and we somewhat untraditionally placed a TV above it.
Bathrooms found on the ground floor and the first floor are a bit beyond the original color scheme and subtle variations come in the form of red and gray tiles. The ground floor bathroom was designed as a wellness center within the home, with a separate bathtub overlooking the garden.
Interior requirements from the owners were very specific and therefore most furniture sets had to be custom designed and manufactured. Appliances were perfectly sewed for the needs of the owners, allowing us to have better control over the look of the interior. Design and color of the furniture gave the space a touch of color scheme, with the use of accent colors thereby animating the whole interior.
Eames Plastic Side Chair DSW
The Eames plastic side chair used in the dining room is an ageless icon of modern design. Charles and Ray Eames created the chair back in 1950 and worked on its development for nearly 10 years. Today it might not appear as so, but this piece of furniture was one of the first in history to be made of a new type of plastic, used at the time as a breakthrough technology – the injected press.
Project and realization
During the reconstruction of the exterior of the house, our client approaches us with the request to design the interior. Since the reconstruction of the exterior was already in full swing, our task was to incorporate a modern, minimalist interior into the existing exterior design concept. We created it in a way that matched the new façade and exterior of the house.
In this case it was better to contact an architect before starting the exterior renovation work in order to better align the whole course of construction and design work.
We developed the interior design, realistic 3D visualization, design drawings for construction work and design a complete set of technical documentation for the production of furniture sets.
Designing the interior took about one month, preparation of technical drawings another month. The interior was implemented in about three months.
This interior was depicted in the third issue of the magazine Beautiful Living in March 2016 under the headline, “Like new.”
